Welcome back to Talk It Out, Walk It Out, the podcast for women navigating life's ups and downs and divine detours. I'm your host, Adia Thompson-White, and I'm so glad you're here.
Adia Thompson White:In our last episode, we talked about pivoting, what it feels like when life starts shifting and you're standing at the edge of something new but unknown. We talked about how to lean into change without panic and how to take inventory of your strengths when you feel the winds moving you in a new direction.
Adia Thompson White:But let's be real, pivoting is only the beginning. What happens when you know it's time to change, but you still feel stuck? You've prayed, you've journaled, you've processed, but now it's time to move and you don't know where to begin. If that's you, this episode is for you.
Adia Thompson White:Let's talk about the fear that shows up right before the breakthrough. That quiet anxiety that says, where do I even begin? What if I fail again? Who am I to do this? This moment, the starting line, is often scarier than the pivot itself. Why? Because starting again means releasing control. It means trusting God while the blueprint is still unfinished. It means risking something new while grieving what used to be. And that is not easy.
Adia Thompson White:But here's the truth I want you to hold on to. You don't have to feel confident to move confidently. You just need to trust that your small, shaky steps still count. Because starting small is still starting.
Adia Thompson White:Now, we often romanticize new beginnings. We wait for this magical moment where everything aligns, the fear disappears, and the clarity just falls from the sky. But real life doesn't work like that. Most of the time, starting looks like creating the website, hitting record, sending the email, saying no, scared.
Adia Thompson White:A nd if I'm being honest, I'm doing this podcast scared, y'all. I really wanted to relaunch Talk It Out, Walk It Out, but in my mind, I wanted it to be a certain way. I wanted it to be just right. I wanted the whole visual aesthetic set up so I could post the podcast on YouTube. But then I got into, well, where am I going to record it? Should I invest money into renting a space or redecorate a corner in my home office? Y'all, I went down this whole rabbit hole of what ended up being procrastination disguised as research, or in other words, analysis paralysis. I was searching for perfection.
Adia Thompson White:But then I remembered done is better than perfect.
Adia Thompson White:So I decided to just do it. I mean, you're listening to it right now. I recorded the season two trailer while on vacation with my family, and I just put it out there before I lost my nerve. I have an outline of episodes for this season and how I'd like to promote the podcast, but I'm basically just kind of figuring things out as I go. But that's still a win.
Adia Thompson White:Because done is better than perfect.
Adia Thompson White:So once you decide to start, what do you do next? Well, here's what I've learned in my own journey. Clarity doesn't come before movement. It comes through movement.
Adia Thompson White:Sometimes we wait on a brand new vision when God is simply asking us to use what we already have just differently.
Adia Thompson White:And if you're unsure of where you should pivot, ask yourself, what's already in my hands? What am I good at? What do people come to me for? What things bring me peace, even in chaos? Maybe your next chapter isn't about starting over. Maybe it's about starting again with the wisdom you didn't have before.
Adia Thompson White:So for our walk it out moment, here are three steps you can take this week if you're feeling stuck.
Adia Thompson White:First, pick one thing, not five, one. Choose a single next step and commit to it, whether that's making a phone call, signing up for a class, or just setting a date. Full disclosure, I totally struggle with this because everything sounds like a good idea and I want to do it all. But I'm learning as well to focus on one thing at a time.
Adia Thompson White:Next, say it out loud. Share your intention with someone you trust. That makes it real. It makes it active. And it opens the door for accountability and encouragement. So I did this when I announced the relaunch of the podcast. Once I posted it on social media, there was no turning back.
Adia Thompson White:And so finally, celebrate small wins. Every step counts. Give yourself credit for starting, even if you don't see the full picture yet. Don't think about all the things that still need to be done. Celebrate what you've already accomplished.
Adia Thompson White:So remember this, starting over isn't failure, it's faith. You are not behind. You are not stuck. You're just at the start.
Adia Thompson White:If today's episode spoke to you, I'd love for you to share it with a friend who's feeling unsure about her next move. And don't forget to subscribe, rate, and leave a review. Your words will help more women find this podcast and this community that we're building together. And you can always find the latest episodes at TalkItOutWalkItOut.com on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
Adia Thompson White:Until next time, keep listening, keep growing, and most of all, keep walking it out.
